The Department of Marine Environmental Science aims to educate students in the knowledge and technology necessary to solve the problems related to the conservation and utilization of the ocean, which is essential for building a sustainable society for humanity, and to cultivate highly specialized professionals with the ability to apply these knowledge and technology. Because the marine environment and ecosystem are closely related to the elements of physics, chemistry, biology, and earth science, the Department of Marine Environmental Science is composed of two pillars: the "Marine Science" department, which teaches and researches the fundamentals and mutual connections of various hydrosphere phenomena, and the "Marine Biology" department, which teaches and researches the interactions between diverse marine organisms and the environment. In addition to education and research in each specialized field, the department also focuses on teaching basic subjects that serve as a foundation for non-specialized fields. We are seeking a faculty member who has a background in marine biology and a track record of research on the ecology, physiology, life cycle, classification, and morphology of marine fish, as well as interactions between organisms and food web structures, and who is able to conduct education and research together with the marine biology faculty in this department. The faculty member in question will have the research achievements to be involved in education and research at the Graduate School of Marine Science and Technology, and will also be actively involved in basic biology education at our university, education related to the curator training course, and field training. The faculty members to be hired in this department will be expected to conduct education and research related to marine biology subjects, taking into consideration their position.
