Summary: What can be done to boost Japan's fishing industry? In the first half of this lecture, we will discuss ways to increase consumption of seafood based on the latest academic research. We will introduce theoretical support and empirical evidence for various ideas such as freshness labeling and displaying the faces of producers. In the second half of this lecture, we will introduce academic knowledge on what is needed to make fishing management more efficient and stable. We would like to explore clues by touching on examples from Japan and abroad, from the strategies of individual management entities to the effects of fisheries management.
