The name "Aotaka Dormitory" combines "blue," which symbolizes our university, with "hawk," which has been familiar to students through the names of our university's ships and other vessels. It was selected as a name that succinctly represents the character of our university.
The name's origin reflects the desire to carry on the legacy of the former training vessel "Aotaka Maru," which supported student practical training for many years. Furthermore, "Ao" (blue) symbolizes the achievements of students aspiring to global ocean exploration and the commitment to creating an international dormitory that welcomes everyone. "Taka" (hawk) represents the Reiwa era.8Years3This embodies the tradition of continuing the role of Tomotaka Dormitory, which ends its role at the end of the month, and reflects our commitment to carefully preserving the history of our university.
The name Seiyo Dormitory symbolizes the history and traditions of our university, its international character, and our expectations for students who will shape the future of the ocean.
