Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology Business Plan Contest 2024 held

The day began with an opening address by Professor Nakahara (Ocean Policy and Cultural Studies Division), and the morning session was17First round of judging for team participants, and in the afternoon, finalists with additional first round judging8Each team gave a presentation in front of the judges.
After strict judging by the judges, the Grand Prize was awarded toAI"Red tide forecast service using the Internet" (Team name: Yamadera), and the Special Jury Prize went to "Japanese subculture and sushi restaurant fusion plan"inIndonesia" (Team name: Team Onigiri) was selected.
Participants also voted, and the winner of the Marine Entrepreneur Award, chosen by students at the University of Maritime Studies, was the "Dream-Carrying Kitchen Truck" (team name: The Success Equation). In addition, the Future of the Ocean Award went to "Beasts Hate Starfish" (team name: Maung Maung Lwin) and "Location Sharing App 'I Can See'" (team name: Asaga Fund).
At the award ceremony, Vice President Lou (in charge of industry-academia collaboration and innovation creation, Vice Director of the Marine Research Strategy Management Organization) presented the award certificates. The judges commented on the business potential and high quality of the projects, which motivated the participants. We will continue to promote the Marine Entrepreneurship Training Program in order to produce marine entrepreneurs from our university.
Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology is aiming to produce marine entrepreneurs.3Starting in the current academic year, we have launched a marine entrepreneur training program for undergraduate and graduate students at our university, and have held open-participation seminars such as "Marine Entrepreneurship" and "Business Plan Contests."
In order to establish and spread this program at our university and make it a university-wide initiative, starting from the 2024 academic year, the Marine Entrepreneur Training Program has been reorganized and "Marine Entrepreneurship I & II (undergraduate)," "Marine Entrepreneurship Seminar (Master's degree)," and "Specialized Marine Entrepreneurship (Doctoral degree)" have been made regular subjects.
