First-year students from the Department of Marine Electronics and Mechanical Engineering took a trial cruise on the Shioji Maru.
First-year students from the Department of Marine Electronic and Mechanical Engineering went on a two-day, one-night experience cruise on the Shioji Maru from November 1st to 11nd.
During the trial cruise, the students had the opportunity to experience navigational watch, engine watch, anchorage watch, and other duties, and learned about group life on a ship.
They also had the opportunity to actually take the helm and steer the ship, learn all about the engine operating process, and take a tour of the engine room.
The students seemed to enjoy their first experience living on board a ship.
